Description	:	Alice M. Whiteaker, 95, of Fremont died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Shalimar Gardens Assisted Living Community in Fremont. She was born June 21, 1915, on the McArdle family farm north of Elkhorn to Joseph and Frieda (Andresen) McArdle. She grew up on the family farm. Read More	Alice M. Whiteaker, 95, of Fremont died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Shalimar Gardens Assisted Living Community in Fremont. She was born June 21, 1915, on the McArdle family farm north of Elkhorn to Joseph and Frieda (Andresen) McArdle. She grew up on the family farm. As a young girl, she had to move to town so she could attend high school. She graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1933. A former marriage to Russell Otte of Elkhorn resulted in three children: Virginia, Joyce and Gerald. In 1947, she married Eugene Whiteaker in Marysville, Kan., and to this union two children were born: Patricia and Katherine. The couple would have celebrated their 64 wedding anniversary on Feb. 19, 2011. The family made their home in Elkhorn and Valley before moving to Denver for several years. In 1981, Alice and Gene moved back to Nebraska, and settled in Fremont. She worked for a short period of time for the Post Office in Elkhorn, and for a restaurant in Elkhorn. She was a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Valley. Survivors include: her husband, Eugene; daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Loyd Jensen, Joyce and Marvin Petersen, Patricia Whiteaker and Katherine and Steve Sarada; daughter-in-law, Diane Otte; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, a granddaughter, seven brothers and a sister. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn with the Rev. Robert Hayden officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Printed Fremont Tribune, February 17, 2011.
