A native of Chester County, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Dorcas Grice Carter. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of High Point, N.C. She received her masters degree from Columbia University in New York. She served as counselor at the University of Florida, Gainesville; counselor at Joliet, Ill.; and retired as counselor at Thomasville College in Thomasville, N.C. She taught school in Lockhart for a number of... Read More	UNION - Alice Carter Gorman, 88, formerly of Lockhart, died April 30, 1997, in Presbyterian Home, High Point, N.C. A native of Chester County, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Dorcas Grice Carter. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of High Point, N.C. She received her masters degree from Columbia University in New York. She taught school in Lockhart for a number of years. Survivors include four sisters, Rosalie King of Seneca, Virginia Bargerstock of Charleston, Edith Blackwell of Union and Elizabeth Beatty of Mt. Holly, N.C. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. William Farley. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home of her sister, Edith Blackwell, 208 Bennett St., Union. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Home, 201 Greensboro Road, High Point, N.C.
