Description	:	Mrs Alice C. Firkins whose death occured at Belle Plaine, Iowa, December 25, 1901, was born in Ohio, April 10, 1848. Her early life was spent at the parents home four miles west of Mt Vernon. She was married to Dr, John W. Firkins in 1869, whose death occurred in 1884. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. One son died in early life; another, Otis Firkins, in 1896 in early manhood. Firkins whose death occured at Belle Plaine, Iowa, December 25, 1901, was born in Ohio, April 10, 1848. Her early life was spent at the parents home four miles west of Mt Vernon. She was married to Dr, John W. Firkins in 1869, whose death occurred in 1884. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. One son died in early life; another, Otis Firkins, in 1896 in early manhood. These bereavements came to Mrs Firkins with chushing weight of sorrow. The funeral occurred at her late residence, December 27, 1901, conducted by her pastor, Rev. F. E. Drake of the Congregational church. No one could go out from that service without higher aims in life and clearer conceptions of life beyond. Those present from this place were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Grove, Mr and Mrs. S. N. Grove, Miss Marie Kepler, J. C. Keedick, Dr. and Mrs Kepler, also Joshua Groves from Ames, Ia. The remains were taken to Fairfax, Iowa for internment beside the Doctor and the children that proceded her. The deceased had lived in Fairfax for thirty years and the large number in procession to the Grove only showed the high esteem in which she was held. The two sons and three daughters were present at the funeral. Edgar is a merchant at Fairfax; Miss Addie teaches in Belle Plaine; Mrs Park resides in Belle Plaine' Frank and Alice are in the home.
