Matheney, 92, formerly of Ottumwa, died Dec. 26, 1999, at Granger Health Care Center in Granger. She was born April 2, 1907, in Ottumwa to Christopher C. "Lumb" and Elnora Simmons Edgington. She married C.A. Matheney on April 8, 1927 [sic]. He died Aug. 26, 1986. A 1925 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she had managed the Sky Diner at Ottumwa Airport, worked for Comfort Inc. and made draperies for many years for McGregor's. She lived in Ottumwa until 1991 and was a member of Davis Street Christian Church, Chapter #112 Order of the Eastern Star and Locomotive, Firemen and Engingemen Auxiliary. She is survived by three daughters, Joleen Hoss of Des Moines, Jacqueline Coon of Clinton and Carolyn Haubger of Gillette, Wyo.; two sons, Amel and Dan of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Earsel Nevin, Hazel Harris and Ethel Moyer; and two brothers, Cecil and Fred Edgington. The service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Jim Matheney officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Chris and Jason Matheney, Mike and Jeff Hoff, Robert Hauber and Roger Potter. Memorials may be made to Hospice.
