"Math" Matheney Sr., 81, of 130 E. Maple died at 1:36 p.m. Aug. 26, 1986, at his home. He was born July 12, 1905, in Ottumwa to Daniel William and Anna Evans Matheney. An Ottumwa resident all of his life, he was an engineer on the CB&Q, retiring in 1971 after 43 years of service. He was a member of Davis Street Christian Church, the Empire Masonic Lodge 269, AF and AM and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He married Alice E. Edgington on June 8, 1927, in Ottumwa, and she survives. He also is survived by two sons, Amel of Ottumwa and Dan of Bloomfield Route 3; three daughters, Joleen Hoss of Des Moines, Jacqueline Coon of Clinton and Carolyn Maloney of Gillette, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Matheney of Pulaski; and two sisters, Esther Uhde and Milre(sic) Seaburg, both of Ottumwa. Funeral arrangements are pending at Reece Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Diabetes Association of Iowa. --------------- Funeral Service Notice From "The Ottumwa Courier," Thursday, August 28, 1986, Page 7: Services for Clarence A. "Math" Matheney Sr., 81, of 130 E. Maple who died at 1:36 p.m. August 26, 1986, at his home, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Cecil Simonton of Davis Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. Masonic Services will be 7 p.m. today at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Mike and Jeff Hoss, John Glasgow, Joel Butz, Chris and Jason Matheney. A memorial has been established to the Diabetes Association of Iowa.
