While Mrs. Caley was a sufferer from heart trouble for some time, her condition was not considered serious and she only had been in bed since the Wednesday previous. Alice Jane Wilson was born in Canton, Ill., on Jan 30, 1850, and passed away at her home in Creighton on September 4, 1926, being the age of 76 years, 7 months and 4 days. She was married to W.C. Caley, June 12, 1875 at Waterloo, Iowa, who preceeded her in death in 1920. To this union six children were born, M.T. Caley, Creighton; Fred C. Caley, Los Angeles, California; Lydia, died in infancy; Jess R. Caley, Ordway, Colo.; Glen W. Caley, dead and Edith A. Burnes, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Besides her four surviving children, three sisters and one brother are also left to mourn her departure: Mrs. Kate Mourer, Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. O.C. Vammen, Aberdeen, Washington; Mrs. Jennie Shaffer, Portland, Oregon and J.F. Wilson, Crawfordsville, Oregon. In October 1883, she removed to Creighton and can be truly classed as a pioneer, her residence having been continuance in Creighton since that date. Mrs. Caley was known among her friends and acquaintances as a woman of kind and cheerful disposition. Her friends were numbered by her acquaintances and her sudden passing brings sorrow not only to relatives, but to the entire community. She was of a true christian character and held membership in the St. Marks Episcopal church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and Royal Highlander lodges. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the St. Mark's Episcopal church, conducted by Rev. J.A. Cave and interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
