Description	:	Allie FERREE Ritchie was the third daughter and fourth child born to Richard L. Ferree (1832-1864) & Nancy Ann Snider (1836-1880). Unfortunately, she was only three years old when her father died in a Confederate Prison during the Civil War. On the June 1870 census Allie was living with her maternal grandmother, Sarah Snider. But in July of that same year she was living with her mother, brother Snowden, sister Lucetty & half sister, Cora. Her mother was remarried to "the farm hand," John Downey. But in July of that same year she was living with her mother, brother Snowden, sister Lucetty & half sister, Cora. Her mother was remarried to "the farm hand," John Downey. On the 1880 census Allie was again living with her grandmother, Sarah Snider. Perhaps it was too crowded with her mother, step father and 4 half siblings that were all born between 1868 and 1880. Allie's mother died in 1880. She married Joseph Trotman Ritchie at the age of 27 on March 27, 1889. She had six children.
