Description	:	Alice Kresensky Weisbrod Alice Kresensky Weisbrod was the third child and oldest daughter of Julius and Helena Ohm Kresensky and was born in Algona on January 9, 1890. She was educated in Algona schools graduating in 1907 at the old Bryant high school. She attended Coe College and taught in rural schools three years, then taught music in Fenton school for two years. In 1916 Alice was married to Walter Weisbrod. She was educated in Algona schools graduating in 1907 at the old Bryant high school. She attended Coe College and taught in rural schools three years, then taught music in Fenton school for two years. In 1916 Alice was married to Walter Weisbrod. They lived on farms near Fenton until 1940 when they moved to the farm near Good Hope where she died Tuesday in her 65th year. Throughout her life Alice was active in church and civic affairs. She directed choirs at both Fenton and Good Hope churches, taught Sunday school for years, took part in Union township activities, and had been a 4-H club leader in both Palo Alto and Kossuth counties. During the past months her health failed and she was forced to give up writing the Union township news for the Advance. Her news writing was exceptionally good and in the years she was the Advance correspondent her writings were read by far more than the Union township residents. About a year ago some of the material she sent was incorporated by the Advance into a column titled "Of Things and Stuff" as a sort of surprise and challenge. It appeared every week thereafter and when she was first taken ill she asked Margaret Durant to take over till she was better. Mrs.Weisbrod's outlook on life was happy as personified in her columns and she projected an enviable personality that brought pleasure to many. Those who know her only through the column will also feel a strong sense of personal loss in her death. The Advance staff feels keenly the breaking of the circle of those who make up your newspaper every week. Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Sept 9 at the Good Hope Methodist church with Rev. Paul Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the Fenton cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ed Hackbarth, William Broesder, Fred Plumb, William McKim, Harley Troutman and Orrie Dittmer. Mrs. Weisbrod is survived by her husband, five children, 13 grandchildren, two brothers, one sister and many friends. The daughters are Verona, Ruth, Helena, Rachel and one son David.
