Description	:	Walter Weisbrod, farmer northwest of Algona, was killed Friday evening at the intersection of hiways 18 and 44 north of Whittemore. He was enroute to place flowers on the grave of his wife. The Weisbrod car was going north on 44 and at the intersection was struck broadside by a car driven by Richard Ristau, Algona, going east on 18. How the accident happened is not known. The crash was investigated by Sheriff Lindhorst and Highway Patrolman Charles Bird and Dick Pederson. Funeral services for Mr. Weisbrod were dated for this Tuesday afternoon at 2 P.M. at the Good Hope church for Union Township with the Rev. Routh officiating. Mr. Weisbrod was born at Fenton June 4, 1887, son of Mr. and Mr.s Philip Weisbrod. He attended Morningside College at Sioux City following education in local schools. He was married to Alice Kresensky, of Algona, in 1916, and she died in 1954. For a time prior to his marriage, he operated a general store in Fenton, later moving to Union Twp. to operate a farm. Mr. Weisbrod was member of the Good Hope church including the church choir. He is survived by five children: Verona, Mrs. Joe McGovern, Riceville; Ruth, Mrs. Don Ohl, Long Beach, California; David, of Denver, Colorado; Helena, Mrs. James Dodds, Lone Roc; Rachael, Mrs. Robert Krause, Fenton. Another daughter, Lois, was killed in an auto accident. He is also survived by two sisters, Amanda Kern, of Fenton, and Mrs. Jay Woods, Tempe, Arizona. There are 25 grandchildren. Pallbearers are Ed Hackbarth, Louis Broesder, Fred Plump, William McKim, Harley Troutman, Arie Dittmer and Roy Sarchet. Burial was in Fenton Cemetery.
