Description	:	Alice Katherine Wenther, 77, of Jackson died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Dick Whiteing officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. today at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation will resume 4 to 8 p.m. today, with an Altar Society and parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m., all at the church. Alice was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Newcastle, Neb., the daughter of Harry and Sophia (Luschen) Richards. She graduated from Newcastle High School. She was a teacher in rural Jackson before her marriage. She married Harvey C. Wenther on Oct. 10, 1946. The couple farmed in the Jackson area for 43 years. They retired in 1989 and moved into Jackson. Harvey died Nov. 29, 2001, in Ponca, Neb. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Survivors include a son, Charles of Jackson; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Joe Rieger of South Sioux City, and Rochelle Johnson of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a sister and her husband, Mary Lou and Max Martinsen of Cherokee, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brian Rieger, Jennifer and her husband, Dan Pease, Laura Rieger, Katie and Michael Johnson; and a great-grandson, Aidan Pease. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vincent and Tom Richards; and a sister, Frances Hoesing. Pallbearers will be Rich Hoesing, Jim, Gary and Mark Richards, Blake Bostwick and Rick Schweers.
