Description	:	Alice M. “Sis” Gilmer of Grasonville, MD died Saturday March 7, 2015 at Corsica Hills. She was 88. Born on February 12, 1927 in Grasonville, MD she was the daughter of the late James Hunter and Alice Stranahan. She grew up in Grasonville and married William F. “Billy” Gilmer in 1943. He predeceased her in 2002 after 59 years of marriage. Sis was a homemaker until her family of six was raised. She then worked as a waitress for various restaurants in the area, most recently for Harris Crab House where she was affectionately known as “Mom Mom”. She enjoyed... Born on February 12, 1927 in Grasonville, MD she was the daughter of the late James Hunter and Alice Stranahan. She grew up in Grasonville and married William F. “Billy” Gilmer in 1943. He predeceased her in 2002 after 59 years of marriage. Sis was a homemaker until her family of six was raised. She then worked as a waitress for various restaurants in the area, most recently for Harris Crab House where she was affectionately known as “Mom Mom”. She enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards, traveling and especially family events. She is survived by three daughters: Sally Kinnamon (Lambert) of Stevensville, MD, Pat Harris (Jerry) of Centreville, MD and Penny Quimby of Queenstown, MD; three sons: Bill Gilmer (Jennifer) of Bethesda, MD, Mooch Gilmer(Deb)of Stevensville, MD and Ben Gilmer (Sue) of Aberdeen, MD; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by all of her siblings: Norman A. “Pete” Hunter, James Edison “Dick" Hunter, David L. Hunter, William F. Hunter, Beatrice A. Sherwood, Velma Rhodes, Gladys Reichenbach, Daisy E. Wilson and Hilda A. Anderson; and son in-law, Thomas Barton Quimby. A visitation will be held 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday March 11, 2015 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Centreville, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday March 12, 2015 at 11 am. Burial will follow in Chesterfield Cemetery in Centreville, MD. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Wye of Carmichael United Methodist P.O. Box 7 Queenstown, MD 21658 or a charity of choice
