Description	:	Alice Mae (Diel) Blackmore was born April 26, 1926 to Alexander and Marie (Amen) Diel in Atwood, Colorado, where they lived until moving to Mayfield, Illinois for a short time. They then moved to Sterling, Colorado. Alice graduated from Sterling High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Perry Blackmore, on February 17, 1946 at the Methodist Parsonage in Sterling. Read More	Alice Mae (Diel) Blackmore was born April 26, 1926 to Alexander and Marie (Amen) Diel in Atwood, Colorado, where they lived until moving to Mayfield, Illinois for a short time. They then moved to Sterling, Colorado. Alice graduated from Sterling High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Perry Blackmore, on February 17, 1946 at the Methodist Parsonage in Sterling. To this union one daughter, Debra Kay, was born. In her early years, Alice was very proud working alongside her parents and brothers many long days hoeing beets, shocking feed and riding horses. She always enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends about her younger days and her favorite memories of swimming or ice skating at the Atwood ditch. She loved to cook and was an excellant baker. She could make something from nothing. She wasn't afraid to try a new recipe (which she quickly changed to her liking). She loved doing ceramics, stitching and endless days stitching fabric yo-yo's. Alice was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a leader for Sunnyside 4-H and a member of Columbine extension club throughout the years. Her family was everything to her. She enjoyed helping do whatever was needed on the family farm. Alice and Perry were married for 62 years, and Alice lived on the homestead until her death. Deb and Alice's grandchildren were the highlight of her life. You were always welcome to stop and see her as she didn't know a stranger. If you ever left with an empty stomach from Alice's house it was your own fault. She was the best cook anyone could know. Her hugs and laughter will be greatly missed. She was loved by many. Alice is survived by her daughter Debra Kay Anderson and husband, Mike. Her granddaughter, Kay Ellen Metzler, and husband Aaron. Her two great-grandchildren, Makenna and Mason Metzler, two sisters-in-law, Rosie (Roth) Diel and Annabelle (Blackmore)Diel and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Blackmore, her parents, Alexander and Marie Diel, and brothers, Raymond and Elmer Diel. A funeral service was held Thursday, May 31, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Otis, Colorado. Interment was in the Otis Cemetary, Otis, Colorado. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
