Pallbearers were Robert Rinehart, Guernsey; Richard DeCoster, Hartwick; Russell Blomme, Richard Rohrer, William Stevens and Robert Tolbert, all of Victor. Alice Mae Safken was born Aug. 20, 1903 at rural Brooklyn in the home of her parents, Rudolph and Bessie Tuttle Dohrn. A lifelong resident of Poweshiek county, she attended rural school near Brooklyn. She was married Feb. 28, 1937 to Joe Safken at Grinnell, They then established their home in Victor, where she continued to reside after his death in March 1969 until recently entering the Williamsburg care center. Mrs. Safken had attended the Victor United Methodist church and was a member of the Rebekah circle of the same church. She is survived by her daughter Joan (Mrs. Everett) Iburg, Victor; one granddaughter, Leanne Iburg, Omaha, Neb.' two sisters, Henrietta (Mrs. Wilfred) Feldaverd, Cedar Rapids, and Evelyn Turpin Mount Pleasant. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother Kenneth and a sister who died in infancy.
