Alice Mae Bradshaw, the daughter of Louis and Esther (Sorenson) Rold was born May 1, 1929, in Harlan, Iowa. She grew up in Irwin, Iowa, and received her education from Irwin High School graduating with the class of 1946. After high school Alice began working at the Irwin Café for her brother, Milford. On November 27, 1949, Alice was united in marriage to Donald Bradshaw. The couple decided to purchase the café from Alice’s brother. While living in Irwin, they welcomed the birth of their first child, daughter Terri. They owned and operated the café for a couple years before a job change for Donald relocated them to Ida Grove, Iowa. They welcomed two more children to their family, daughter Kim and son Kelly. Alice was employed as a bookkeeper for various businesses in Ida Grove until her retirement. During their retirement, the couple used to enjoy wintering in Pharr, TX. Alice was an avid golfer. She was fondly referred to as “Hundred Yard Alice” by those that knew her. She enjoyed playing a competitive game of cards and was the nickels champion of the family. Later in life Alice became an excellent painter specializing in oil paintings. She painted numerous pieces to share with her family and friends. Alice also enjoyed making flower arrangements and was a talented seamstress. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by those who knew her. Left to cherish her memory include her children Terri (Leslie) Abel of Walnut, IA, Kim Woebke of Ida Grove, IA and Kelly (LaDean) Bradshaw of Edwardsville, KS; grandchildren Eric (Tracey) Abel, Joshua (Dina) Abel, Gretchen (Marcus) Miller, Zachary Miller, Summer (Sarah) Bradshaw, Austin Bradshaw, Danielle (Adam) Palmer and Gabrielle Miller; great-grandchildren Schuyler, Brody, Mason, Landon and Leighton; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Esther Rold; her husband Donald Bradshaw; son-in-law Larry Woebke; siblings Hazel Birks, Leonard Rold, Helene McGraw, Milford Rold and Ruth Linklater; as well as a host of friends.
