Description	:	Alice May Dohse, daughter of Henry A. and Hattie (Johnson) Deppe, was born December 7, 1912, at their farm home 3 1/2 miles east of Glenvil, Nebraska. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 1 day. Read More	Alice May Dohse, daughter of Henry A. and Hattie (Johnson) Deppe, was born December 7, 1912, at their farm home 3 1/2 miles east of Glenvil, Nebraska. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 1 day. She attended school through the eighth grade at Glenwood School District #56 east of Glenvil and graduated from Glenvil High School in 1929. Alice earned a bachelor's degree from Hastings College in 1939 and worked on her master's degreee at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also had a certificate of life senior professional elementary arts. She taught Old Testament history at Midwest Bible School in Gordon for two years and was the director of music. From 1942-44 she taugh history, science, math and music at Plymouth High School. Alice's father passed away on February 1, 1938. She and her mother moved to a farm one mile south of Edgar, Nebraska. On September 28, 1944, Alice was united in marriage to Kenneth Leland Dohse on the family farm site one mile south of Edgar in Nuckolls County. This union was blessed with the birth of one daughter, Ruth Elaine in 1947. Alice taught kindergarten, first and second grades in Edgar Public School from 1951-64, plus one year she also taught fourth grade. Her last year in Edgar, she taught kindergarten in the morning and drove to Nelson to teach kindergarten in the afternoon. From 1965-71 she taught at Angus District #23 and as a substitute teacher in Oak. She farmed with her husband and they operated the Angus General Store in Angus for several years. On June 29, 1994, her husband died. She moved from Angus to the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson in August in 1997. Alice was a member of First Church of God in Edgar where she was active in the Missionary Society and was the piantist and organist for the church. She loved children and enjoyed being a grandma to Troy Alan and Deana Jo McLaughlin. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband was a grandson, Troy Alan McLaughlin, in September of 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth McLaughlin and her husband Bill of Edgar, and granddaughter, Deana Jo Bischoff. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 11, 2000, at 2 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar with Pastor David Sellers officiating. Burial was in the Glenvil Cemetery.
