Fairchild ------------------------------------------------ Alice May Lucas, daughter of Francis and Mary Lucas, was born June 7, 1868, near Hillsboro, and passed away April 20, 1938, at Stockport, after an illness of several years. She was married October 5, 1897 to Adrian W. Fairchild, a Spanish American war veteran who died January 13, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin E. Lucas. She is survived by a son, Carl L. Fairchild, who is stationed on a U.S. Navy Submarine near Honolulu; four sisters, Mrs. C.L. Beswick and Mrs. A.J. Oberg of Stockport, Mrs. H.L. Landis of Elkhart, Indiana, and Mrs. G.R. Powelson, of Eldorado, Kansas and two brothers, W.T. Lucas of Beaumont, Texas and Dr. F.N. Lucas of Soap Lake, Washington. She was united with the Methodist church in her youth, and was an active member of the Order Eastern Star Chapter at Hillsboro. Services were held in the Methodist church in Stockport, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. C.W. Cochran and music by a quartet composed of Edna Crawford, Mrs. S.H. Watkins, Rev. Lewis, May and Phil Morris with Mrs. B.H. Morrison, accompanist. Burial was in Spencer cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
