Alice Rachel Hunter, daughter of Henry H. and Rebecca Williams Minor, was born in Linn county, on Jan 24, 1886, and died on Sept. 1, in Churdan, at the age of 71 years, seven months and eight days. Allie as she was called by her many friends, attended the rural schools in Linn county near her birthplace and as a teenage moved, with her parents, to the Churdan vicinity, where whe attended the local schools. On Oct. 5, 1904, she was united in marriage to Floyd E. Hunter at the Minor home near Adaza. To this union were born four sons and five daughters, one son and one daughter dying in infancy. Oct. 5 was also the marriage date of her Grandmother Williams, Aunt Allie Mershon and son Donald and daughters Vera and Ruth. Mrs. Hunter became a member of the Baptist church in Churdan in 1905. She was very active in church work, being Cradle Roll superintendent since 1920. She was also a Deaconess in the church, and a 50 year member of the Churdan Friday club. Survivors in addition to her husband include four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Paup, and Mrs. Earl (Vera) Hoyle, both of Churdan; Mrs. Roger (Audrey) Dillavou of Nampa, Idaho; Mrs. Dwane (Ruth) Adamson of Perry; three sons, Carl H. of Iowa Falls; F. Clare of Churdan and Donald M. of Arlington, Va.; 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
