Description	:	Alice Rose Mazour was born on September 25, 1901, on the family farm, to Joe H. Barta and Rosela (Hynek) Barta. Alice was one of eleven children born to this marriage. Alice was a lifetime resident of Nuckolls and Clay counties in Nebraska. She attended the Blue Clover Country School, enjoying her schoolgirl days with her family on the farm. Alice spent most of her life as a homemaker, marrying Joseph J. Mazour on May 14, 1923, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, Nebraska. Barta and Rosela (Hynek) Barta. Alice was one of eleven children born to this marriage. Alice was a lifetime resident of Nuckolls and Clay counties in Nebraska. She attended the Blue Clover Country School, enjoying her schoolgirl days with her family on the farm. Alice spent most of her life as a homemaker, marrying Joseph J. Mazour on May 14, 1923, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, Nebraska. This union was blessed with three daughters: Frances, Eleanor, and Marry Ann. Alice loved to bake and garden, do needlework, and was active in the church and community. She was baptized at the Assumption Catholic Church on May 24, 1917, by Father Hancek. She was also confirmed and remained a member of the Deweese congregation until transferring to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nelson some thirty years ago. Alice was a past president of the Catholic Altar Society, serving as an active member for many years. The Lord called Alice to be with him on June 15, 1988, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska. She passed away at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 20 days. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren; three brothers who died in infancy; her sisters, Bessie Klauz, Rose Stichka and Mary Dobesh. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Joe of Nelson; their three daughters, Frances M. Makovicka of York, Nebraska, Eleanor (Mrs. Albert Hamersky of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Mary Ann (Mrs.) Donald Biltoft of Nelson; her brother Joseph H. Barta of Western, Nebraska; her sister Clara (Mrs. Jim) Mazour of Nelson; her twin sister Helen Janda of Hastings; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 18, 1988, at 10:30 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nelson, Nebraska with Father Frank Machovec and Father Leo Shedivy officiating. Music was provided by James Spirk, organist and accompanist, and congregational hymns of "The Old Rugged Cross," "On This Day, Oh Beautiful Mother," "At That First Eucharist" and "How Great Thou Art." Commentator was Jerome Mazour. Altar boys were Michael Doyle, Chad Ostdiek, and Aaron Uhrmacher. Casketbearers were grandsons: George Makovicka, Raymond Makovicka, Daniel Hamersky, Donald Biltoft, Jr., Roger Biltoft, Nicholas Biltoft. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and granddaughters. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, near Lawrence, Nebraska. A rosary service was held Friday, June 17, at 8:00 p.m. from the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson, Nebraska.
