Description	:	Alice Blackwood, daughter of Frank Stichka and Anna (Koci) Stichka, was born May 4, 1907 at rural Lawrence, NE and passed away on September 7, 2004 at the Belleville Health Care Center at the age of 97 years, 4 months and 3 days. Alice received her education in the public rural schools near Lawrence, NE. She began farming at an early age and continued that her entire lifetime. Alice received her education in the public rural schools near Lawrence, NE. She began farming at an early age and continued that her entire lifetime. On December 20, 1926, she was united in marriage to Henry "Hank" Blackwood and to this union 3 sons were born, Richard, Pat and Gene. The couple moved to rural Courtland, KS where they engaged in farming for many years. He preceded her in death in 1975 and she moved to Courtland, KS where she lived for several years. She later lived with her son, Gene for two years in Scandia, KS and then moved to the Belleville Health Care Center. Alice was a member of the Memorial Covenant Church, Courtland, KS. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, Henry "Hank" Blackwood, son Richard, two sisters Anna and Elizabeth, and three brothers, Anton, William, and Edward. Alice is survived by two sons, Pat Blackwood of Barstow, CA and Gene Blackwood of Scandia, KS; one brother, Emil Stichka and wife Geraldine of Ruskin, NE, one sister, Bessie Reeves of Nelson, NE; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 7 great great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Memorial Covenant Church, Courtland, KS; conducted by Assoc. Pastor Jake Engelbert. Interment was at the Courtland Cemetery.
