Read More	OBITUARY July 20, 1933 - The Greenville News Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Ward James, well known resident of this city, whose death occurred at 9 o'clock Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. R. West, in Spartanburg, will be held this morning at 11 o'clock at the Mackey Mortuary. The services will be conducted by Dr. Flourney Shepperson and Dr. E. P. Davis, and the internment will be made in Springwood Cemetery. The following persons will serve as the pallbearers and meet at the Mortuary a few minutes before 11 o'clock: Walter P. White, Raymond Williams, Frank H. Earle, W. E. Thompson, J. E. Means, W. K. Allen and D. A. Martin. Mrs. James was a native of Greenville County, having been born and reared in Saluda Township, a daughter of the late Levi and Evelyn Philips Ward, and was 67 years of age. During the past 55 years, she has lived here, where she was prominently connected. Nine days ago, she went to Spartanburg for a visit with her daughter, and became ill. Her death followed on Tuesday night, though she had been in declining health during the past year. Countless friends of the family will sympathize with them in death. Mrs. James was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of this city. She is survived by her husband, J. P. James, one son Dudley James of Livington, California, and by four daughters, Mrs. Louis Alex, of this city, Mrs. Augustus Roper of Travelers Rest, Mrs. C. B. Scott of Oakland, California, and Mrs. C. R. West of Spartanburg. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren. Until the hour of the service, the body will remain at the Mackey Mortuary.
