Description	:	Allen P. Lamm, 79, formerly of Newcastle, Neb. died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Park View Haven Care Center in Coleridge. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gospel Chapel in Newcastle, with the Rev. Ron Lamm officiating. Burial will be in Newcastle Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Neb. Allen was born July 24, 1923, in Allen, the son of Pervis A. and Thelma D. (Allen) Lamm. Allen was born July 24, 1923, in Allen, the son of Pervis A. and Thelma D. (Allen) Lamm. He attended Newcastle High School. He was married to Caroll Marie Sorensen on Aug. 22, 1940, in Dixon, Neb. by the Rev. O.R. Knott. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. The couple went to barber school in Tacoma, Wash., and settled in Denver, Colo., for 23 years. He worked at the Denver Union Stockyards. The couple had five children, which they raised in Denver. They moved back to Newcastle in 1969, with their grandson, Randy Hodges, who they raised until he was 16. He was a night cop in Newcastle for seven years and drove the school bus for 14 years. He was a member of Independent Faith Baptist Church in Wayne, Neb., the American Legion, the Lawrence Lefgren Legion Auxiliary Post 62 and the Trail Riders Club of Newcastle. He enjoyed auctions, antiquing, training horses and flee markets. He loved his family, especially playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a great love for his horses and mules. Survivors include his wife, Caroll of Placentia, Calif.; four daughters and their husbands, Linda and Jerry Beckley of Grand Junction, Colo., Elaine and Richard Jensen of Placentia, Calif., Shirley and Fred Haakensen of Duluth, Minn., and Carolyn and Hoyt Yabnez of Fountain Valley, Calif.; a son and his wife, Ronald and Connie Lamm of Wayne, Neb.; a sister, Bonnie Rohan of Newcastle; 28 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Warren Lamm; and a sister, Dorothy Rastede. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Randy Hodges, Joe Bacenko, Michael Lamm, Steven Lindberg, Bryan Lindberg, James Lindberg, B.J. Robinson, Lou Robinson and Del Matticks.
