Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Eureka, led by Pastor LuCinda Haak. Biel, was born August 24, 1930 at her parent’s farm 8 miles N of Java in Campbell County. This is where she was raised and attended the Blessing Rural School. She attended Java High School, graduating with the Class of 1948. She then taught for one year at the Ackerman Rural School. Allegra married Victor Hirsch at the Selby United Church of Christ, Selby, SD on November 5, 1950. They lived with Victor’s parents in Java until the spring of ’51 when they settled on their farm 14 miles NE of Java. This is where they lived until they moved into Eureka in November 1989. Allegra and Victor located to Aberdeen, SD in October 2012. Following Victor’s death on September 3, 2014, Allegra relocated to Eureka where she lived the rest of her life. She belonged to the Java United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and belonged to the Women’s Fellowship. Currently, Allegra was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Eureka where she belonged to the Women’s Fellowship. She also belonged to the Eureka VFW Auxiliary Post No. 5126. Over the years, Allegra did lots of quilting and collected salt and pepper shakers and many knick-knacks. She kept a nice garden and loved flowers. Allegra’s family will fondly remember the buns and sour cream cookies that she baked. Allegra is survived by her brother, Lowell Biel and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to Victor, Allegra was preceded in death by her father, Fred, on March 29, 1976; her mother, Dorothy, on November 9, 1997; her brother, Earl, Earl on August 31, 2019; and her sister-in-law, Violet “Vi” Biel. Services are in care of Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel, Eureka.
