Officiating at the service was the Reverend Deb Burger. Leann Bremner was the organist and the congregation sang selected hymns. Casket bearers were all of Allen's grandchildren. Burial was at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau. A. Allen Knudson, a son of Arthur S. and Mabel (White) Knudson, was born on April 17, 1930 at Bottineau. He was reared near Bottineau and later graduated from Bottineau High School. In 1950, he married Beverly Handeland at Bottineau. This marriage later ended. He lived on a farmstead in Cordelia Township for several years and later moved to the family farm in Whitteron Township. He operated a diversified farming operation of cattle, small grains and an egg production business. In 1978 he married Susan Erdman at Willow City. They lived in Willow City until returning to Bottineau in 1986. He was a member of the United Parish in Bottineau. He served on the Methodist Church Board and later the United Parish Council. He served as the Cordelia Township assessor, Turtle Mountain Soil Conservation District Supervisor, North Dakota Association of Soil Conservation districts where he was president for a time. He also served on the Bottineau School Board and was also the Scandinavian Hartland Insurance Director. Allen passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at a Bottineau nursing home. He is survived by his wife, Susan of Bottineau; 2 daughters, Deborah (Bill) Busta of Willmar, MN and Katie Hughes of Pine, CO; 5 sons, Keith (Mary) Knudson, Bradley (Margo) Knudson, Bruce (Sara) Knudson and Brian (Tammy) Knudson all of Bottineau and John (Cindy) Erdman of Pembina, ND; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Gail Riley of Tacoma, WA and Eunice (Gary) Larson of Kailua, HI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Maybelle; grandson, Steven Knudson and great-grandson, Andrew Sand.
