Description	:	Allen Kruse, son of Chris and Christina (Petersen) Kruse, was born on a farm near Herman, Nebraska, on January 23, 1911. He passed away Tuesday, August 8, 1995, at Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, six months and 16 days. Read More	Allen Kruse, son of Chris and Christina (Petersen) Kruse, was born on a farm near Herman, Nebraska, on January 23, 1911. He passed away Tuesday, August 8, 1995, at Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, six months and 16 days. Allen was raised on the farm and attended Herman Community Schools, graduating from Herman Community High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. June 11, 1940, in Humboldt, Nebraska, Allen was united in marriage to Verna K. Herr. This union was blessed with two daughters, Karen K. and Dayle Ann. Allen was employed by the Soil Conservation Service for many years. He and Verna had lived in Nelson, Nebraska, for 45 years. After his retirement, they traveled with Lay witness Missions in Illinois and Indiana. In 1992 they moved to The Kensington in Hastings, Nebraska. He enjoyed reading and traveling through Nebraska. Allen was a "shutter bug" and had taken a picture of every court house in Nebraska. He taught Sunday School for many years. He was a member of the Community United Church of Christ. V.F.W., American Legion and W.C.T.C., all of Nelson. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife, Verna, on November 21, 1994. Survivors include his two daughters, Karen K. George of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dayle Ann Jensen and her husband Jim of Marengo, Iowa; four grandchildren, Brian George, Julie Buswell, Matt Jensen and Dana Jensen; and two great grandchildren, Caitlin and Carter Buswell. Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, 1995, at 2 p.m. from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by James and Alfred Hanson singing a duet of "Beyond the Sunset" and "My God and I" with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Royce Schott, Dennis Batliner, Bill Wessel, Kenneth Hamel, Leon Elsey and Pat Hemmingsen. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne McClure, Ivan Troudt, Yale Meyer and Ivan Schafer. Burial with military honors, given by Nelson American Legion and V.F.W. Posts, was in Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
