Verna was married June 11, 1940, in Humboldt to Allen Kruse. This union was blessed with 2 daughters, Karen and Dayle Ann. She was a 4-H leader, a member of Nelson Community United Church of Christ, Women's Christian Temperance Union, United Women's Christian Fellowship and American Legion Auxiliary. Her church was very important to her. She had been a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the choir and wrote the 2 songs that are sung at the services today. She enjoyed knitting and had made many many afghans. After she and Allen retired they traveled in Illinois and Indiana with Lay Witness Missions. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Pearl Herr. Survivors include her husband Allen of Hastings; 2 daughters Karen K. George of Des Moines, Iowa and Dayle Ann and her husband, Jim Jensen of Marengo, Iowa; a sister, Betty Lou Wessel of Lincoln, Ne.; 4 grandchildren, Brian George, Julie Buswell, Matt and Dana Jensen and a great granddaughter, Caitlin Buswell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 23, 1994, at 11:00 a.m. from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Ne. with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating.
