Born in Union, March 1, 1983, a 2001 graduate of Lockhart High School, and received his Associate's Degree from the University of South Carolina, Union campus. Born in Union, March 1, 1983, a 2001 graduate of Lockhart High School, and received his Associate's Degree from the University of South Carolina, Union campus. He earned his Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge # 244. Other survivors include a brother, Brad Smith (Stephanie); grandparents, Rev. John Smith (Gladys); a special friend, Autumn Fowler of Union; and was known as "Uncle Goob" to his niece and nephew, Natalie and Nicholas Smith. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 12, 2011, at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by his grandfather, Rev. John Smith and Rev. Brian Bishop. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Active pallbearers were Heath Johnson, Keith Williams, Jamie Williams, Lee Griffin, Olin Mintz and Tim Mintz. Members of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge # 244 are asked to serve as the honorary escort. Visitation was held 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday evening, August 11, 2011, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials were made to Hospice Care of SC, or to Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund.
