Allen was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Fremont to Edward and Louise (Jacobsen) Christensen. He was the youngest of their 19 children. He attended Rosedale Country School and worked on the family farm north of Fremont. He also helped farm the family's land in western Nebraska, near Chappell. Allen served in the Army National Guard for eight years, from 1954 to 1962. He was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont. Allen was most happy when spending time with his family and friends, and in the summer months was a dedicated gardener, supplying them and the local ministries with fresh produce from his garden. He is survived by son, Wesley and wife, Michele (McClatchey) Christensen, of Omaha; daughter, Nancy Arendt of Elkhorn; brother, Rudy Christensen of Hooper; sister, Edith Stuenkel of Fremont; grandchildren, Abbey and husband, Billy Siebler, Wesley Hoesing, and Zachary Christensen; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kayleigh Siebler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 14 brothers, Harvey, Sterling, Gilbert, Ervin, Seymore, Edward, Emmett, Ray, Glenn, Paul, Elwood, Henry, Manley and Warren; and two sisters, Evelyn Larsen and Ethel Christensen. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. The Rev. Michael McGregor will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont with military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20. Memorials may be directed to the family." Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, Nebraska.
