Description	:	Alma A. (Goerner) Marten (1898 - 1980) Alma A. Marten was born Apr. 8. 1898 at Castana, Iowa, the daughter of Franz and Emma Lipsky Goerner. She died Apr 17, 1980 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 82. Alma was raised on a farm east of Charter Oak. She received her education in the Charter Oak Schools. (Goerner) Marten (1898 - 1980) Alma A. Marten was born Apr. 8. 1898 at Castana, Iowa, the daughter of Franz and Emma Lipsky Goerner. She died Apr 17, 1980 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 82. Alma was raised on a farm east of Charter Oak. She received her education in the Charter Oak Schools. On Apr. 8, 1915, she was united in marriage to Henry Marten at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. They made their home on a farm east of Charter Oak for a number of years before moving into Charter Oak. Alma was employed in Charter Oak for several years. She also provided child care for many Charter Oak families for many years. After her husband's death in 1962 she continued to make Charter Oak her home. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church as well as a member of St. John's Ladies Aid. In addition to her parents and her husband, Alma was preceded in death by one son, Walter, one brother and one sister. Survivors include, one daughter, Florence, Mrs. Edward Greh of Brighton, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. Also by three brothers, Herman Schreiber of San Diego, Calif., Adolph Schrieber of Santa Clara, Calif., and Carl Schreiber of Ricketts, and five sisters. Mrs, Ida Seils of Schleswig, Mrs. Martha Seils of Charter Oak, Mrs. Marie Dunlop of Sioux City, Clara, Mrs. John Listamann of Charter Oak and Mrs. Martha Rickert of Chicago, Ill.
