Description	:	Alma Hemphill Hainesville, NB., Canada 91. Died 10-1-2004. She was born in Hainesville, NB., Canada 7-31-1913 the daughter of Herman and Celia Haines. She moved to Presque Isle in 1936 and soon met Claude, whom she married in 1938. They lived on the Hemphill farm until they bought their home in town in 1943. She occasionally worked at the Porter Jewelry Store to help out while Neal Porter went to the jewelry shows. But other than this, she was a mom who devoted her life to her family. She moved to Presque Isle in 1936 and soon met Claude, whom she married in 1938. They lived on the Hemphill farm until they bought their home in town in 1943. She occasionally worked at the Porter Jewelry Store to help out while Neal Porter went to the jewelry shows. But other than this, she was a mom who devoted her life to her family. Her cooking talent was her pride. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards once the kids were all grown. She was a wonderful Christian with her heart in all the activities of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church. She had taught Sunday school there, been a member of the United Methodist Women, served on the administrative council, several of the circles, the bible class and was a 50+ member of the church. She enjoyed camping whether it was at the family camp at Echo Lake or a trip really roughing it when she and dad were younger. The family all looked forward to planning their trip each year. The camping trips to Fundy National Park with many of the Methodist families in the area were always trips to remember. She was predeceased by her husband Claude in November of 1983, 2 sisters, Ola Treffery Baker and Helen Hoyt, a brother, Lloyd Haines. She is survived by their son Gordon and his wife, Susan, a daughter, Dawna Harris, another daughter, Brenda and her husband, Jeremiah Donovan. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eyes. Gordon's children, Hardy, Anders, Chad and Jamie were card playing, cookie jar kids who came home to Presque Isle to try and best their Mamaw just once at Skipbo or King's in the Corner. Their summers at the lake were their month to relax with their Mom and Dad but to enjoy their Papaw and Mamaw. She opened her arms when a granddaughter, Karen came into the family. She is also 2 great grandsons, Crandell and Carson, who are Chad's and Kecia's boys, 2 more great grandsons, William and Alec, who are Anders and Beverly's boys and 1 more great grandson, Graham, who is Jamie and Kiley's son. Burial Fairmount cemetery.
