Born Sept. 18, 1912, in Osceola, the daughter of Floyd Davis and Della Mae Poush, she married Warren James Rees on Aug. 20, 1938. He died Nov. 22, 1988. A son, William E. Rees, died in active duty in Vietnam on Oct. 6, 1967. Alma was a graduate of Osceola High School and a Des Moines beauty school. She worked as a beautician until her marriage, then a housewife until her retirement, which was shared between Mesa, Ariz., and Anamosa, where she had lived most of her adult life. Alma was a member of Daughters of the Nile, Order of Eastern Star and United Methodist Church, Anamosa. Accomplished in needlepointing, crocheting and knitting, Alma also enjoyed golfing. She loved collecting antique furniture and quilts, china and pottery. She enjoyed traveling and accompanied her husband on his many trips to the State House while he served on the Iowa State Supreme Court from 1969 to 1980. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Alliance, 5180 Campbell's Run Rd., Pittsburgh, Penn. 15205.
