Description	:	Alma B. Trumm, age 86, of Hayti, SD, passed away on Saturday, April S, 2014, at the hospital in Watertown, SD. She was the widow of Lowell Trumm. Alma was born on May 28, 1927, at Erwin, SD, to Haaken and Jennie (Olson) Storhaug. She graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1945 and went on to earn her Teachers' Certificate from General Beadle State Teachers College at Madison, SD. Trumm, age 86, of Hayti, SD, passed away on Saturday, April S, 2014, at the hospital in Watertown, SD. She was the widow of Lowell Trumm. Alma was born on May 28, 1927, at Erwin, SD, to Haaken and Jennie (Olson) Storhaug. She graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1945 and went on to earn her Teachers' Certificate from General Beadle State Teachers College at Madison, SD. Alma taught rural schools for three years and then worked as a secretary at Lake Preston Farmers Union. On April 12, 1952, Alma married Lowell O. Trumm at Pipestone, MN. She worked at Kingsbury rural Electric Co-op until she and Lowell moved to Hosmer, SD, in 1954. In 1960, they moved to the Hayti area. Alma worked at the extension office in the Codington County courthouse for three years and later for the Hayti-Hamlin School District as a secretary for 29 years, retiring in 1996. Lowell passed away on December 22, 2008, and Alma continued to make her home in Hayti. She was a member of Hayti Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school and was very active in WELCA. Alma enjoyed reading and was a member of the Hayti Literary Club. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and inviting them over for coffee. She loved spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren. Alma is survived by her daughter, Janice (Kevin) Braden, of Bennington, NE; her daughter-in-law, Karen Trumm, of Hayti; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren: Chace, Kensington, Quinn and Dexter and Baby J; one sister, Evelyn Peterson, of Salem, SD; and one brother-in-law, Chuck Trumm, of Hayti. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Stanley; her parents; two brothers and one sister.
