Description	:	Minden resident Alma Fietsch (Gormley) Lux, 84,died May 19, 2006, at the Kearney County Health Services Long-Term Care Unit in Minden following a long illness. Memorial services were held at the United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. Burial was prior to the services and the remains were cremated. Alma was born Dec. 28, 1921, to Arthur S. and Marguerite (Fietsch) Gormley in Oak Park, Ill. She graduated from Oak Park-River Forest Township High School in 1940. She attended secretarial school and worked as a secretary for many years. She worked in the Buick automobile plant during World War II making aircraft parts for the war effort. In 1948, she moved to Denver. On Dec. 30, 1950, she married Ivan E. Lux in Denver. They lived in Hay Springs, later moving to Norfolk and finally settling in Minden. She gave sewing and swimming lessons. She studied art and English at Kearney State College. Her husband preceded her in death. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Minden and was active in Circle. She served on the Minden City Council and was involved with the Minden downtown beautification projects, helped implement the Meals on Wheels program and was active in Minden Community Players. She was a member of both Garden Club and Women's Club and participated in Ladies Bridge. She was involved in the Girl Scouts, Brownies and Cub Scouts. She and her husband were foster parents after their children left home for a brief time. She was selected for the Ak-Sar-Ben "Good Neighbor Award" in 1990. Survivors are two daughters, Eunice Brauer of Aurora, Colo., and Laura Knott of Gering; two sons, Gene of Fredricksburg, Texas, and Alvan of Minden; three sisters, Mabel Preble of Fort Collins, Colo., Marguerite Dupree of Rancho Murieta, Calif., and Barbara Stringer of Loveland, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one sister.
