Interment was in the Humboldt cemetery. Mrs. Nelson passed away at 12:15 a.m. July 4, 1969, at the Pawnee Manor at Pawnee City. She had been in failing health for a number of years. Mrs. Nelson lived in the Chelsea community southeast of Geneva for some time and will be remembered by old friends and neighbors. Alma Ida Nelson was the youngest daughter of the last Charles and Tabitha Carsh. She was born May 8, 1888, on a farm three miles east of Humboldt. All of her girlhood days were spent in the Humboldt area. In 1908 she was united in marriage to Merridith Davenport and to this union one son Floyd, was born. Mr. Davenport passed away in April 1918. She moved to Geneva area at that time and Floyd passed away in January 1923. November 10, 1925, she was united in marriage to Elmer Nelson of Geneva and became the step-mother of his three children, Donald, Dale and Florence. Dale preceded his step-mother in death. In March 1929, the family moved to a farm east of Humboldt. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the United Methodist Church of Humboldt. Survivors include her husband, Elmer, a son Donald of Los Angeles, Cal., a daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Florence) Snoke; four grandchildren, Mrs. Carol Critel of York; Eldon, Melvin and Raymond Snoke; and one great-grandchild; one brother and several nieces and nephews.
