Read More	Alma Watne, 87, Binford, ND, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, in Cooperstown Medical Center-Nursing Home, Cooperstown, ND, where she had been living since May, 2005. Alma Josephine Overby, the daughter of Bernt and Sigrid (Larson) Overby was born on April 25, 1918, in rural Binford, ND, on the family homestead located in Rosendal Township, Griggs County. She was baptized at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Mose, ND, and was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Binford. She graduated from country school. Alma grew up on the family farm and as a young adult, worked for various farmers assisting their wives. She married A. Raymond Watne on November 18, 1940, at Moorhead, MN. They lived for several months with her parents and then on the Fred Lewis farm north of Binford. They moved into Binford in 1942 where Alma continued to live while Raymond served in World War II. Following the war, they lived for a short time near Cooperstown, then Sutten, ND. In the fall of 1948, they moved to their south of Binford. They moved into their current home in Binford on December of 1964. Alma worked alongside Raymond in their farming operation and in providing for their children. She worked at the Hub Café in Binford from May of 1965 until December of 1982. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She cared for Raymond in their home following his stroke until his death on December 27, 1997. Alma was a 23-year survivor of ovarian cancer. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was believed to be the last surviving granddaughter of the large Hans Nielson Overby family. Alma is survived by three sons, Allen (Lillian) Watne, Fallbrook, CA, Bernie (Bev) Watne, Maricopa, AZ, and Terry Watne, Grand Forks, ND; two daughters, Darlene (Jim Hanson) Brandvold, West Fargo, ND and Renee (Joe) Martin, Valley City, ND; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Doris Overby, Casselton, ND, Betty Overby, Libby MT, Mabel Mergenthal, Hillsboro, ND, Shirley (Carrol) Retzlaff, Cooperstown, ND, and Jo Watne, Manchester, MI; one brother-in-law, Chester (Laura) Watne, Cooperstown, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernt and Sigrid; her husband, Raymond; three brothers, Hans, Leonard and Albin and five sisters, Annie Hagle, Emma Haakenson, Hazel King, Sigfred Hagle and Clara Nelson Wells. Funeral services will be 11:00 Saturday, October 29, 2005, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford, ND. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 Friday, October 28, 2005, in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND, and one hour before services in the Church. Prayer Service will be 7:00 Friday, October 28, 2005, in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Trinity Cemetery, Binford, ND.
