Mrs. Wagner was born on April 18, 1921, at Marquette to Omar Laverne and Anna Marie (Eiltz) Travis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Heber Wagner, in August of 2007. Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and daughters-in-law. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She attended school in Central City, graduating in 1938. Alma married Heber C. Wagner on March 21, 1942, in Lincoln. The couple lived and farmed on the family farm west of Central City. Alma taught school at Merrick County Rural School District 20. The couple moved from the farm west of Central City to town in 1972. Alma was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church and part of the Altar Guild. She was a lifetime member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 6, a long time volunteer with the local Red Cross, member of the Central City Library Board, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. Alma loved spending time with her family. She also had a special love of music. She always had Lawrence Welk tapes playing in her room at any given time. At religious or music programs, Alma could be heard, singing along to gospel hymns or the old standards. She also had a lifelong focus on education. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Travis, and three sisters, Val Avery, Jean Zurfluh and Evelyn Kelsch.
