Wagner, 90, of Central City, died Friday, August 03, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Fullerton, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Monday, August 6, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Heber was born on April 9, 1917 to August J. and Johanna (Sierks) Wagner on the family farm west of Central City, Nebraska. He grew up in the Archer area and attended Archer High School. He entered the United States Air Force in April of 1942 serving during WWII. He was stationed for three years in England with the 35th Air Depot Group and the 8th Air Force. He was a Staff Sergeant and Depot Maintenance Crew Chief for B-17 Bombers. Heber was honorably discharged in December of 1945.Mr. Wagner was united in marriage to Alma L. Travis on March 21, 1942 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple lived and farmed on the family farm West of Central City. In 1972, the couple moved to Central City as their son Tom took over the farming operations. Heber was a lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion Lone Tree Post #6 in Central City, Nebraska. He was also on the Honor Guard and Firing Squad for thirty-nine years. He was member of Christ Episcopal Church and sat on the Church Bishop Committee. He was Rural Fire District Secretary/Treasurer for sixteen years. Heber was a member and term President of the Nebraska Midstate Reclamation District Board. Mr. Wagner was member of the District 24 Rural School Board and a lifetime member of the 40 & 8. Mr. Wagner enjoyed working with his hands on the farm and in later years getting power units ready for Tom in the summer. He enjoyed watching old movies, and the Price-Is-Right. He was very devoted to visiting his wife at Long Term Care over the years and loved spending time with all his family. He is survived by his wife, two sons, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and one sister. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Silda Stelk, Lydia Wagner, Frances Hanna, Clara Summerville, Erma White, and Edna Wagner, and four brothers, Roy Wagner, Claus Wagner, Glen Wagner, and Howard Wagner.
