Meeker, 49-year-old former Ottumwan and wife of Halbert L. Meeker of China Lake, Calif., died July 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the Trona hospital, Trona, Calif. The daughter of Albert and Mary Erb, she was born in Ottumwa July 24, 1899, and lived here until 1944 when she moved to California to make her home. During her residence here she was a member of the Riverview Methodist church and the Navy Mothers’ Club of America. Mrs. Meeker is survived by her husband, Herbert [sic]; three sons, Robert Orman of Riverside, Calif., Halbert E. Meeker of Corona, Calif, and Donald Meeker of Norfolk, Va.; and two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy McCracken of Corona Calif., and Mrs Mary Mudge of Riverside, Calif.; her mother, Mrs. Mary Erb of Ottumwa; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Fugett of Barstow, Calif.; one brother, George W. Erb of Ottumwa, and 11 grandchildren. Her father, one brother and a daughter, Evelyn Mae, preceded her in death. The body arrived in Ottumwa this afternoon and was taken to the Johnson funeral chapel where services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in charge of the Rev. J.A. Harp of the Riverview Methodist church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lester, Dale, Warren and Vernon Randolph, Charles Johnson and Grover Caster.
