Mr. Noyd died Oct. 31 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Mr. Noyd was born April 11, 1907, the son of John E. and Mathilda Noyd. He spent his early years on the Noyd family farm northwest of Odebolt. He attended Richland Township School and graduated from Odebolt High School in 1926. He worked for Lindsey's Grocery and Department Store in Arthur and Brynstson's Clothing in Odebolt and assisted on the family farm following graduation. He married Helen Dannenberg in December 1936 and farmed the first five years. In 1941, he entered the petroleum distribution and heating contractor business, retiring in 1974. He was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church where he also served as an usher, church council member and on various building and landscape committees. Throughout his business years, he volunteered his time for the Odebolt Community Fair, the city council, the Odebolt Chamber of Commerce, the Odebolt Cemetery Board. He was a founding board member of Colonial Manor Nursing Home and the Sac County Conservation Board. He was instrumental in securing funding and selecting parcels for the establishment of the county parks. In 1991, the Almer Noyd Wildlife Area was designated to recognize his 25 years of service to the county parks system. Survivors include a son, John Noyd of West St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, Howard Noyd of Bellevue, Wash.; first cousins in Storm Lake and Sweden; in-laws, Elizabeth Noyd, Elaine Raasch, Ruth and Harold Boney and Mavis Dannenberg; four nieces, Nadine Proctor of Cordova, Tenn., Karen Rector of Ida Grove, Candace Noyd of Dallas, Texas and Valerie Noyd of Plano, Texas; a nephew, Jay Noyd of Denton, Texas; many Dannenberg nieces and nephews; and cousins.
