(Source: Nodaway County, MO Marriage Records) ==================== The Superior Express (Superior, NE), Thursday, September 1, 1932; pg. 1 ALMIRA ANN TIPPIN Almira Ann, daughter of John and Elizabeth Wilson, was born in Lee county (sic) Iowa, January 19, 1849, and passed from this life at Eskridge, Kan., August 25, 1932, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 6 days. The family moved to Clarinda, Iowa in 1855, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Isaiah S. Tippin, May 28, 1864. To this union eight children were born; two sons and six daughters: R. I. Tippin, Nampa, Idaho; Mrs. A. C. Faris, Nampa, Idaho; Clyde Tippin, Grants Pass, Ore.; Mrs. C. M. Stevenson, who passed to her reward January 4, 1932; Mrs. J. M. McDowell, Eskridge, Kan.; Mrs. T. H. Zimmerman, Lucern Valley, Calif.; Mrs. J. H. Patrick, Mitchel, Nebr.; and Mrs. C. F. Edgar, Webber, Kan. With husband and children she moved from Clarinda to Holmwood, Jewell county (sic) Kansas, in 1880, where she lived for fifteen-years, when they moved to Superior, Nebr., in1895. Her husband passed from this life at Superior May 3, 1910. In 1917 she went to Webber, Kan., where she lived with her daughter and family until 1931, when she went to Eskridge, Kan., and lived with another daughter, Mrs. McDowell, until her death. She united with the Covenanter church at Clarinda, Iowa in early life and remained a faithful member of this denomination until her death. Her membership was transferred first to Holmwood, then to Superior Covenanter congregations, her name being on the Superior roll at her death. The Superior congregation, in her death, is losing one of its oldest members. When health and distance permitted, her place in the church was always filled. She was loyal to her Lord first of all, and her life was centered around doing His will. Her life has been beset with trials, and many sorrows have been in her pathway, but through them all her faith has remained secure and firm. In the days of her life, the Bible verse which seemed to mean most to her was Psalm 17:15" I shall be satisfied when I awake in thy likeness." In her last moments of consciousness on the Sunday preceding her death she called her family together, asked that prayer be offered and the Bible read. Then she joined in singing the Twenty-third Psalm. Her faith held to the last, although she left this world thru the gate of intense physical suffering. She leaves to mourn her passing seven children, twenty-five grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren. She was very proud of her children even to the third generation, and her prayers were centered around these little ones that they might grow up strong in the Lord. Besides these she has other relatives and a host of friends who will miss her through the years. Funeral services were held in the Covenanter church at Superior, Saturday afternoon, August 27, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A.J. McFarland, and interment was made in Evergreen cemetery (sic), beside the body of her late husband.
