Ash Edgewood, Ia., Sept. 20 -- Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the local Congregational church for Mrs. J. E. Ash, with burial in the Edgewood Cemetery. Rev. Wright, pastor of the Bethany Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids, preached the sermon and was assisted by Rev. T.R. Gray, local pastor. Elmira Cleveland was born in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, July 3, 1855. She grew to womanhood in the county of her birth and later came to Iowa, where she met and married J.E. Ash in the year 1890. Three children were born to this union, one of whom, Edgar Ernest, died in infancy. The two living are Robert Sylvester and Goldie M. Gladys, who with the husband, two grandchildren, eight brothers and sisters and other relatives remain to mourn her death. Mrs. Ash was a member of the Christian church in Greeley, later transferring her menmbership to Bethany, the Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids, where they made their home for the past twelve years. Twenty-eight years of her life were spent in this vicinity. A.C. Bissell, Erie Rulon, Ray Culbertson, George Seward, R.L.Whitehead, and Elias Hamlett attended the casket.
