Description	:	Alois (Al) T. Schutte, age 53, died Monday evening, August 9, 2004 at his home in Lawrence. He has fought medical difficulties for many years and in the last month or so, was diagnosed with cancer, complications from which were the immediate cause of death. Services are planned as follows: Rosary will be Thursday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Funeral services will be Friday, August 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart church (sic). The Mass of Christian Burial was con-celebrated by pastor (sic) Rev. Dennis Hunt and Father Melvin Rempe. Assisting at the service were: organist: Linda Ostdiek and Song Leader: Tom Westfall; Acolyte was Bob Janda and Lector was Mick Streff; Servers, Chance and Garret Svoboda and Addison McCartney. Active Pallbearers were: John Plein, Richard McFadden, Darrell Anderson, Richard Menke, Joseph Theer, Robert Kotinek, Duane Brockman and Lamar VanBoening. Honorary Pallbearers were his brothers and sisters and nephews of deceased brother, Edwin: Marion Schutte, Don Schutte, Paul Schutte, Raymond Schutte, Howard Schutte, Ellen Kistler, Marilyn Svoboda, Carolyn Kitten, Sharon Willmes, David Schutte and Ken Schutte. Rosary/Wake service was conducted Thursday evening, Aug. 12, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Knights of Columbus Grand Knight, Craig Buescher, led the rosary and Rev. Dennis Hunt officiated at the Wake Service. The service concluded with a favorite musical recording of "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. Mr. Schutte was laid to rest in the Sacred Heart cemetery (sic) east of Lawrence. Alois T. Schutte was born August 11, 1950 to Alois Theodore and Helen Catherine (Hlavac) Schutte at the Nelson Maternity Home in Nelson, Nebr. He passed away Monday evening, August 9, 2004 at 5:30 p.m. at his home in Lawrence at the age of 53 years, 11 months and 28 days. he (sic) was diagnosed with cancer on June 28, 2004, however, he has experienced health complications since 1996. In 1964, Mr. Schutte moved with his parents to Hastings, Nebr. where he graduated from St. Cecilia High School in 1968. On January 31, 1970, he married Mary Ostdiek at St. Stephen Catholic Church south of Lawrence. The couple resided in Hastings where he was employed as a Journeyman Carpenter for Kealy Construction Co. In 1976, they moved their family to rural Lawrence where he operated the Highland View Farm until 1996. Alois Jr. (Butch) was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lawrence and the Knights of Columbus Council 1905. His life was dedicated to his family and he took great pride in observing his children's accomplishments and in experiencing the antics of his grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, sporting activities and most importantly furniture restoration. Mr. Schutte was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Edwin and Francis and several nieces and nephews. Al is survived by his wife, Mary; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Stacy Schutte of Elkhorn, Nebr.; daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Jason Drudik of Nelson. Five Brothers: Marion of grand (sic) Island; Don of Kearney; Howard and Ray, both of Hastings; and Paul of Nelson; four sisters: Ellen Kistler of Superior, Marilyn Svoboda of Deweese; Carolyn Kitten of Hastings, and Sharon Willmes of Roseland. Grandpa Butch will remain in the hearts of his surviving grandchildren: Dillon and Caden Schutte of Elkhorn; and Kristin, Peyton and Karigan Drudik of Nelson.
