Description	:	"OBITUARY Alonzo H. Lehmkuhl was born January 23, 1859. Died at his daughter's home at the age of 71 years, three months and eight days. He was the eldest son of John D. and Minnie Lehmkuhl, pioneers of Saunders county, coming to this community with his parents in the spring of 1869. He attended the public schools and later went to Valparaiso, Indiana, where he completed a course at the Valparaiso Normal. As a young man he took active part in building up this community. He worked with the surveyors gang, laying the Union... Read More	"OBITUARY Alonzo H. Lehmkuhl was born January 23, 1859. Died at his daughter's home at the age of 71 years, three months and eight days. He was the eldest son of John D. and Minnie Lehmkuhl, pioneers of Saunders county, coming to this community with his parents in the spring of 1869. He attended the public schools and later went to Valparaiso, Indiana, where he completed a course at the Valparaiso Normal. As a young man he took active part in building up this community. He worked with the surveyors gang, laying the Union Pacific Railroad through this county and also breaking much of the prairie land. February 23, 1886, he was united in marriage to Nettie H. Hughart of Valparaiso, Indiana. The young couple took a homestead in Chase county, Nebraska, and lived there until 1888, at which time they moved to their farm near Weston. In 1918 they moved to Weston and lived among old friends and neighbors until the passing of the wife and mother, March 24, 1930. Mr. Lehmkuhl was a very industrious citizen and always showed great interest in county affairs. He devoted some thirty years to the Weston public school as treasurer. He was a member of the St. George Lodge No. 95, Knight of Pythias and was loyal to his order, serving his lodge in the different offices. He and his wife were the parents of four children, three of whom survive them. They are: Mrs. Cordia Barry, Glenn Lehmkuhl, both of Weston, and Everett Lehmkuhl, of Palisade, Nebr. He leaves four grandchildren, Leila and Ruth Anne Barry, and Daryl and LeRoy Lehmkuhl; also three brothers and one sister, John, of Kimball; Edward and Frank, of Wahoo; and Mrs. Alice Davis, of Kearney. Thus the family ties have twice been broken in a short five weeks and two very fine people have been taken, going on to that undiscovered country from whose bourne no traveler has returned. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. Gust C. Barry on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., Rev.'s Nickerson and Berry were in charge of services. Interment at Sunrise cemetery conducted by the Knights of Pythias. Card of Thanks We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all our friends and neighbors for the kind assistance and expression of sympathy, during the illness, death and burial of our beloved father and also for many beautiful floral gifts.
