Description	:	Mrs. Alpha Stanely 76, of Gillman died at Evengelical Hospital Monday evening where she had been a patient since Jan. 9. She had been in failing health for the last year and had been hospitalized intermittenly. Born Alpha Steen, July 27, 1886, at New Sharon, she was the daughter of David and Josephine (canfield) Steen. She recived her education and grew to womenhood in that community. On Dec. 12, 1905, she was married to G.M (mack) Stanely and they spent their entire life in New Sharon and Gilman communities. Mrs. Stanely was a member of the Gilman Community Church, the Ladies Aid Society, 20th Century Club, the Eastern Star of Gilman and active in Red Cross work during World war 11. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1956, a half-sister and a brother in infancy. Surviving are two sons, Wendell and Marion Stanely, both of Marshalltown. Also surviving are three grandchildren, a brother and one sister,, Warren Steen of New Sharon, Mrs. Chester Van Cleve of New Sharon, and a half sister, Mrs. Ann Engle of Oskaloosa. Servies were held from the Gilman Community Church with the Rev. Paul Dowty, pastor, in charge. Burial was in the Prairie View Cemetery. From the Marshalltown TR dated Tuesday, February 19, 1963
