Description	:	Granville M. Stanely 72, Gilman died at the Evangelical Hospital at 4:25 p.m. Thursday where he had been a patient for the last week. Born Jan. 2, 1884 on a farm near Searsboro, he was the son of Marion and Elizabeth (White) Stanley. He recived his early education in that community and the family moved to Taintor, in Mahaska County where he completed his education and grew to manhood. On Dec. 12, 1905 he married Alpha Steen, the couple established their home in Mahaska county and lived there untill coming to the Gilman community in 1916 where he had since resided. Mr.... Read More	Granville M. Stanely 72, Gilman died at the Evangelical Hospital at 4:25 p.m. Thursday where he had been a patient for the last week. Born Jan. 2, 1884 on a farm near Searsboro, he was the son of Marion and Elizabeth (White) Stanley. He recived his early education in that community and the family moved to Taintor, in Mahaska County where he completed his education and grew to manhood. Mr. and Mrs Stanley celebrated thier golden wedding anniversary lat Dec. For more than 40 years he had been employed by the M&St. L. railroad. He was a member of the Gilman Community Church, served for many years as the church treasurer and was serving as the town treasurer at the present. He was also a 38 year member of Cyrus Lodge AF&AM and the Ort. Survivng are his widow, two sons, Marion and Wendell Stanely both of Marshalltown, Iowa. Also survivng are three grandchildren, three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Grace miller of Searsboro, Mrs. Opal Craver of New Sharon, Mrs. Lottie Elwood and Harry Stanely of oskaloosa. Preceding him in death were three brothers and two sisters. Services were held from the Gilman Community Church Monday in charge of the Rev. Wendel Henline and the Rev. Corwin Taylor.
