Description	:	Alra(Slats) Lenore Hoover was born September 14, 1917 in Anthony, Kansas to Dennis and Olivia (Thompson) Jefferies. Slats lived on a farm west of Anthony and attended a country school, graduating from Anthony High School in 1935. On Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941, Slats married Forrest Hoover of Harper, Kansas. They were married in the Anthony Methodist Church She worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Anthony, transferring to Harper when Forrest returned from World War II. Read More	Alra(Slats) Lenore Hoover was born September 14, 1917 in Anthony, Kansas to Dennis and Olivia (Thompson) Jefferies. Slats lived on a farm west of Anthony and attended a country school, graduating from Anthony High School in 1935. On Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941, Slats married Forrest Hoover of Harper, Kansas. They were married in the Anthony Methodist Church She worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Anthony, transferring to Harper when Forrest returned from World War II. Later she worked for the Gas Service Company until her retirement after 20 years of service. Slats and Forrest enjoyed traveling, visiting all of the states. She loved the outdoors, animals, people, birds, and children. One of her favorite holidays was Holloween when she would dress her dogs in costume and they greeted the kids at the door. Sheloved to go hunting with Forrest and their friends. She soon decided that it was more fun to carry a camera than a gun and they have boxes of pictures and movie film to prove it. Slats and Forrest became to leal guardians of the Brazzell children. And one of the highlights of their life was their 50th wedding anniversary, planned by the Brazzells and the nieces and nephews who shard with their family and friends in 1991. They celebrated their 56th anniversary this year. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, P.E.O Sisterhood Chapter BV and the Harper United Methodist Chur h, where she served on the Memorial committee for many years. She was a cheerful and willing worker for the E-Con Shop here in Harper and any place she was needed. Slats loved music, and especially enjoyed hearing Forrest sing. She sang in the church choir and also plaed in the Bell Choir. On Tuesday, August 5th Slats passed away at the Harper District Hospital at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 22 days. she was precededin death by her parents, her brother Glenn Jefferies and her sister and brother-in-law, Carmen and otis Livingston. She will be missed by her husband, Forrest Hoover of Harper; her sister-in-law Lillian Jefferies of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Leata Brazzell Thom, Everett Brazzell, Jeanie Brazzell Bell, Cecil Brazzell Jr. nieces and nephews and a close circle of friends.
