ALTA BOWEN DEATH Her Husband Recently Home From Trip for His Health Cincinnati, June 1 - Mrs. Alta Scritchfield-Bowen died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Scritchfield Wednesday morning death being caused by pneumonia. She leaves a ten month old baby, besides her husband, Wm. Bowen Jr. who just returned Sunday from Chicago where he had been to consult a specialist in regard to his health which has been very poor for several months. Mr. Bowen and the parents have the sympathy of a host of friends in their hour of trouble. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Christian church service conducted by Rev. Baker. Centerville Daily Iowegian and Citizen, Centerville, Iowa, Thursday, June 1, 1916, page 3 YOUNG MOTHER DIED AT CINCINNATI WED MORNING Mrs. Wm. Bowen, Jr., of Cincinnati passed away Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. after a very short illness with pneumonia. She was but eighteen years of age at the time death overtook her and leaves a six month old child. It will be remembered that last fall Mr. Bowen himself was in the hospital here to take treatment for a badly ulcerated tooth. Last week he went to Chicago to consult a specialist in regard to the same matter. It seems that tubercular trouble of the bone had set in, and little hope for recovery was given him by the specialists whom he consulted. He returned home just in time to find his wife dying from the ravages of pneumonia, with which she had been ill only a few days. All this misfortune, coming as it did at one time, has aroused the sympathy of the entire community for the family and its many friends are grieving at the untimely death of the young mother.
