Seager, widow of John H. Seager died at her home at 11 o'clock after an illness of a few days of the infirmities of age. Mrs. Seager was 90 years old last November. Mrs. Seager was born Althea Johnson at Vernon, Vermont, on November 17, 1827, and was the last of a family of fourteen children. She became the wife of John H. Seager in Ohio August 25, 1847, and went to Dodge county Wisconsin to live. Mr. and Mrs. Seager made their home there until December 28, 1850, when they moved to Greenville, Wisconsin. They came to this county in 1858, settling on a farm six miles northwest of Gilman. Mr. Seager died in Gilman January 1, 1905. Two of Mrs. Seager's four children survive their mother, in the persons of John H. Seager of Taber, Alta., and Mrs. Anna Bancroft who lived with her mother. The other children were Edward, who died at age 7 in Wisconsin, and Mrs. Amanda Bush, who died in Gilman May 15, 1905. Mrs. Seager also raised from infancy a foster son, Louis Johnson, who still lives at Gilman. Six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren are living. Mrs. Seager was a wonderful woman, both mentally and physically, retaining her mental faculties until the very end, and being in remarkable health for one [sic] of her years up to her last illness. She was admired and respected by the people of Gilman for her good life and works. Not long ago the Times-Republican printed a story of the work of the Gilman Red Cross auxiliary, and of what Mrs. Seager had done in knitting for the soldiers. This work, even at her age, proved no hardship and was one of the ways the venerable woman took to show her loyalty to her country and her love for her fellow beings. Mrs. Seager was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist faith, and Elder A. R. Ogden, of Nevada will have charge of the funeral services, assisted by Rev. Mr. Norton, pastor of the Gilman Methodist Church. Short services will be held from the Seager home at 1:30 Thursday afternoon and from the Methodist Church at 2 o'clock. Burial in the Gilman cemetery.
