Description	:	Alvin Andrew Amen, 76, of Sterling, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 in Fort Collins. Visitation will be from 10 am. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 am. on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Zion United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Elli Elliott officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Dr. Elli Elliott officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Amen was born on June 21, 1924 to Andrew and Anna Mary (Wiederspan) Amen in Logan, Colo. He went to school in Crook and graduated from Crook High School. He enlisted in the U:S. Army during World War II, serving from 1944-1945. After his discharge he returned to farm in the Crook and Iliff area. On Feb. 10, 1950 he married Opal Dubray in Sterling. They lived in Crook, where Alvin farmed until 1983. He also served as postmaster in Crook from 1971 until 1986, when he retired. They moved to Sterling in 1990. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ. Mr. Amen is survived by his wife Opal Amen of Sterling; one daughter, Lona Barber and husband John of Merino; four Sons, Tim Amen and wife Tammy of Fort Morgan, Jack Amen and wife Marilyn of Wendell, Idaho, Chuck Amen and wife Terri of Streamwood, ill., and Ken Amen and wife Glenda of Sterling; six sisters, Esther Scriven of Orange, Calif., Helen Dies of New Carlisle, Md., Violet Schaffer of Fort Morgan, June Amen of Elgin, Ill., Florence Fritzler of Sterling and Marlene Kubal of Wabasha, Minn.; five brothers, Victor Amen of Siebert, Henry Amen of Greeley, Leland Amen of Merino, Jerry Amen of Sterling and Donald Amen of Colorado Springs; and 10 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or the Crook Historical Society.
