Description	:	Alvin B. Schley died of gangrenous appendicitis at the German Baptist hospital at 6:15 last evening. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schley of Stratford. The deceased was 19 years old and a native of Rondell township. The body will be shipped to Stratford today, where interment will be made in the Rondell cemetery. Rev. W. Kraushaar, assisted by Rev. The mother of the dead boy requested the papers of the city to state that she believed that the doctors had done all in their power to save his life, but that the disease had gone so far before an operation could be performed that it was impossible. - Aberdeen Daily News Tuesday, January 12, 1915 Page 5 ============================== Alvin B. Schley, the 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Schley, who reside two miles east of Stratford, was taken to the hospital at Aberdeen last week and operated upon for appendicitis, but the young man's heart was not strong enough to stand the shock and he passed from life Monday evening. Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran church (St. Paul's) Thursday afternoon. Rev. P. Graef of James addressing the congregation in German and Rev. A Senne of Groton speaking in the English tongue. Interment will be made in East Rondell cemetery. The deceased was just entering into young manhood and would have been nineteen years of age the 27th of next May. Schley was held yesterday at 12 o'clock from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schley, one and one-half miles east of Stratford. The funeral was held from the church at 1 o'clock. A very large funeral, the largest had in some time in that section of the country, was held.
