He took a job with the Ideal Cement Company which... Read More	Alvin Dee “Al” Howard, 89, passed away on January 25, 2015 in Gilbert, Arizona. He was born on June 4, 1925 in Superior, Nebraska to Josephine “Josie” and William “Bud” Howard. He was brother to Mae Kuehl, Helen Miller and Ivan Howard. He married Phyllis Klawitter of Nelson in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his service, he graduated from Hastings College in 1950. After college, he and Phyllis returned to Superior with their daughters, Barbara and Sally. He took a job with the Ideal Cement Company which became a career which led to transfers to Florence, Colorado and Seattle, Washington. While in Florence, he was elected to the Florence School Board. After retirement in 1985, Al and Phyllis built their dream home in Hoodsport, Washington. After Phyllis’ passing in 1995, Al moved to Mesa, Arizona, as a snowbird, visiting Hoodsport in the summer. Al was a longtime member of Superior Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Shrine. He served as a Rainbow Dad and advisor for his daughters. He was a gifted ballroom dancer, an amateur auto mechanic and an avid golfer. He is survived by his second wife, Ruth Jarrett Clubb of Mesa, Arizona, sister Helen Miller (Willie) of Superior, brother Ivan (Linda) Howard of Arizona, daughters Barbara (Ed) Forner and Sally (Shaun) Dale, granddaughters Julie, Emily and Lindsay and great grandchildren Olivia, Owen and Emmett. A memorial service will be held on Saturday 1:30 PM, June 27, 2015 at Superior United Methodist Church, 448 Kansas Street. Pastor Warren Schoming will be officiating. In memory of his service to his country, military honors will be presented at an afternoon graveside service at Nelson Cemetery.
